General Questions

Are our children invited to our wedding?

Unfortunately, children are not invited to our wedding. If you have questions, you can contact Troy or Ashley for more details.

Can I bring a plus one?

"No plus-ones. You heard me. The couple invite their actual loved ones only. If that includes partners or pairs of friends...then lovely. Otherwise, guests can do something scientifically proved to be achievable; socialize on their own." - Faith Hill, Staff Writer for The Atlantic. While we made a decision that under specific circumstances, you can bring a plus one, please contact either of us of who you'd want to bring. We want our special day to be celebrated with YOU, and because we have a limited capacity for our wedding.

Why is there no registry section? If we want to give a gift, what is the plan for this?

Due to the nature of our destination wedding, we do not require any registry/physical gifts, especially if you are carrying it all the way from your home country! A lot of you (including us) have travelled a long way to get to our wedding. Your attendance and celebrating with us is the most important and already enough. We will have a check in and signing book at our reception. If you'd really like to give us a gift, a red envelope (lai see, 利是 or 利事) is already too generous!

Welcome Drinks

What is the dress code for the Welcome Drinks?

Western Attire! Jean jackets, sundresses, jeans, plaid shirts, cowboy boots, a Canadian tuxedo...we can't wait to see you there. Yeehaw!

If we have a rental car or hired a chauffeur service, can we drive in?

Under Parks Canada and provincial law, rental cars including cabs are not permitted to drive to Mount View BBQ. We will be organizing shuttles with a schedule time which will accommodate to numerous pick up and drop off times. The BBQ site is 13-15 minutes from downtown Banff. More details coming soon!

What time will buses pick/drop off guests?

Details coming soon. A reminder that no private cars will be able to drive into the property. To and from our Welcome Drinks will be around 15 minutes ride.

Wedding: Ceremony and Reception

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Black Tie. See more details below in the Q&A for more details on the dress code.

How much time should we budget to get to the ceremony?

If you do not plan on taking the shuttle bus, we recommend arriving to Banff at least 45 minutes to 1 hour before the ceremony. If you living/staying in Calgary, we recommend leaving no later than 12 PM. Doors of our ceremony do not open until 30 minute before so budgeting time for lunch, parking, and getting ready will be required by the guest.

We are not planning to stay at the Fairmont, will you be arranging for pick up to and from the hotel?

For the ceremony, we will order 1 shuttle bus to pick up twice in downtown Banff and drop off at Fairmont Banff Springs. One bus at 2:15 PM, and the second at 2:30 PM. All guests must arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony. For the reception, we will order 1 shuttle bus to pick up at 11 PM, as well as for our afterparty at different times starting from 12 AM to 1 AM.

If we are leaving past midnight from the after party, will there be a pick up and drop off if we aren't staying at Fairmont Banff Springs?

We will have two pick up and drop offs over the evening and will be organizing this with more details to come.

How many days should we budget getting into Banff?

We recommend at least 2 days to relax. There's less rush of driving and a lot to explore!
